Emotional meaning of interfaces. The power of context

by F. Almenara Add comment Tags: , , , — Categories:Interface, Markets are Conversations November 4th, 2009

The user interface of a product, a web app or any other product, prepares the state of mind of the user in two ways. One is the usability, every action has to be easy and intuitive. The other is the emotional context, the colors, shapes and proportions also help prepare a climate. Mac OSX can help us feel more ‘inspired’, while Windows 7 is less adequate to provide a creative emotional context.

Noteca is a communication tool, for establishing conversations. Its design must be easy to understand, yes, but Noteca is more powerful if it also helps create a good karma to participate in each days conversations. We chose the blue-green-gray combination of colors because the balance it provides gives us the best feeling and we have been working hard on the texts and the work-flow of Noteca to render speed and warmth. Creating a positive social context for each action.

Something similar to what Audi+ MIT did creating an assistant that provides rational information with emotional value. It is much easier to do something when you have an emotional connection.
