Second Preview: The blog’s influence, the relevance of a mention

Noteca shows what blogs are most influential and what posts are most interesting to you. Mixing these ingredients we provide the perfect cocktail for you to engage with your community.
Less is more. Noteca says who is who among millions of blogs
Guru, Master, Junior or Newbie. Noteca automatically labels how influential each blog is using a straight-forward colored label. The most influential blogs are considered Guru and the Newbies are newcomer blogs that barely have made a mark in the community. In between we find the self-explanatory Master and Junior labels.

You can find out at a glimpse what mentions have been posted in influential blogs. This way you optimize your time.
The order of the posts in New mentions. Influence and relevance are not the same thing
In New Mentions, the posts are ordered by the relevance of the post, not by the influence of the blog. A post in a Guru blog that could be loosely related to your subject will appear below a post in a Master blog that seems very much related to this same subject.
¿How about an off-line example? Let’s imagine a newspaper as The New York Times. We all know that it is the world’s most influential newspaper. Noteca would obviously consider it Guru. There is another important newspaper, but a little bit less so, the New York Post. Noteca would see the difference and probably label it Master. Suppose that the New York Post writes a full two-page article about you, while the New York Times only mentions you in a small notice. Noteca would register this difference into account and use the combined importance of the newspaper and the article to decide which one is most relevant and show this one first.
To help converse with bloggers, Noteca finds blogs that treat topics of your interest and classify them by influence. Because we all know how important the New York Times is, but in a world with millions of blogs, how many people know the influence of a blog such as ‘El blog de Enrique Dans‘? Enrique Dans is also a Guru.
‘El blog de Enrique Dans’ is one of Spain’s reference blogs on technology and bussiness strategy on the internet.
Different views in View options: optimize your effort your way
Different situations require different solutions. Sometimes you need to converse with the most important bloggers, even if they barely mention you, but most of the time there is a need to join the most relevant conversations even though the blogger is not that influential. While the default view of New Mentions sorts the posts from most relevant to least relevant while showing the blog’s influence as a label on the side, you can choose other views that might suite specific situations. In View options you can choose to see posts from certain dates or from blogs with a certain influence.
This way you get flexibility and control. You decide what is more important at each moment and control how much effort/time should be spent on each conversation.
How are the influence of the blog and the relevance of the contents measured?
Noteca collects new information constantly with its crawlers. This information is analyzed considering not only the relevance of the contents but also the influence of the person who wrote it, in several languages and over millions of blogs.
